> STEERING THE ROAD FORWARD FOR
BUSINESS-LED
INVESTMENT IN
CONSERVATION FINANCE

The title "Levering Ecosystems" evokes the principle of movement. The contributors to this report collectively bring to light a balanced view of opportunities and hurdles (p. 23), inspiring companies in a broad range of interconnected industries to act.
In this report:
Food, water, energy, air quality, forestry, and tourism sectors are featured markets (Table 1, p. 5) in which sustainability, resilience and economic growth are at stake. The finance community calls it "conservation finance." In this area, business-world objectives are matched to ecosystem services and related markets. The single requirement for success across the board is, simply stated, international collaboration to increase the value of ecosystem services. Each of the case studies in this report expresses a new value-based opportunity for collaboration. The innovations suggested reflect broad implications for conservation finance to "supersize." As we work together, to increase our attention and awareness towards building and distributing these products, the markets formed will support positive environmental impacts.
The authors' work is enriched by the championing of conservation finance by Credit Suisse CEO Tidjane Thiam, and co-chairs of the Credit Suisse Impact Investing Advisory Council Paul Tregidgo and Wilson Ervin (Foreword).
